Wednesday Night Round-Up

5 matches were played last night with the top 4 teams in the country all in action. Chelsea went to Bolton in hope keeping up the pressure on title rivals Manchester United who had a home tie against Everton to contend with. Out of form Arsenal had a match against London rivals Fulham whom haven't beaten them for forty years. The other 2 games saw Liverpool at home against in form Portmouth and Man City away to Aston Villa.

Summary of results

Man Utd saw off Everton in a comfortable 3-0 display.

A late first half goal from Michael Ballack meant that Chelsea won 1-0 and remain 3 points off top spot.

Arsenal fell even further from the top 2 with a shock 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage.

The clash between Liverpool and Portmouth ended in a no score draw due to resolute defending from the visitors.

Lastly Darius Vassel came back to haunt his former club scoring the first of City's goals as Man City ended a poor run of away games with a 3-1 victory over Villa.
